What I’m Growing This Year

I don’t think anyone can argue homegrown vegetables are so much better than store bought.  I try to grow as much of my own food as possible, and my garden consists of 18 raised beds for my vegetables, herbs, berries, asparagus and grapes.  I always go for the heirloom varieties for their superior taste, variety and hardiness.  Here’s what I’ve got growing this year:

Peas–Wando (not impressed so far) and Oregon Giant snow peas (eating lots of these now).

Lettuce–Red Butterhead and Green Butterhead (flavor is okay, not as good as heirlooms) and Rouge D’Hiver

Beets (Chioggia)

Carrots (Danvers)

Broccoli and Cabbage (lost to cabbage loopers AGAIN)

Broccoli Rabe–goats got into my garden and totally ate this

Pole Beans–Rattlesnake

Bush Beans–French Tavera and Provider

Soup Beans–Jacob’s Cattle

Winter Squash–Red Kuri, Musquee de Provence, Acorn

Zucchini–Costata Romanesco and Golden

Cantelope–Golden Jenny and Charentais

Cucumbers–Poona Kheera, Delikatesse, Lemon

Peppers–Aji Dulce, Marconi, California Wonder, Anaheim, Jalapeno

Tomatoes–Roma, Amish Paste, Brandywine, Early Girl, Cherokee Purple, Amy’s Sugar Gem

Eggplant–Diamond, Thai Yellow Egg, Rosa Bianca (these didn’t transplant well for some reason and I’ve lost a couple already)

Potatoes (Russian Fingerling and Red Gold)

What are you growing?  Old favorites?  Something new?
