Tonight I made time to ride my beautiful mare, Goldie. It’s been far too long since I was last in the saddle, but tonight I made it happen. We didn’t do anything strenuous, just walked around the pasture chatting with my kids and their horses, but it was so worth it. Goldie and I have a special bond. She can be good as gold, but every now and then she’ll get a little sassy. She keeps me on my toes and I like that. Same old same old gets boring. That’s not my horse. I love her for who she is. We’ve covered lots of trail miles, Goldie and I. I’ve shown her in some small horse shows and done very well. She was top 10 in yearling longe line at the Texas state 4-H horse show when my daughter showed her. Her sire is an AQHA world champion. Her dam is a Buckskin world top 10. She’s got it all. And she’s all mine. We’re a team, Goldie and I.
